There is a saying in our business that “the show must go on” and there have been many times over the years that we have seen the passion and hard work of artists and crews put a show on stage that only hours earlier seemed impossible. We are therefore greatly disappointed to share the news that due to the challenges and concerns created by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming season of Lorelei.
Our greatest priority will always be the health and wellbeing of our audiences, artists, staff and their families and taking advice from the government’s directive to limit all non-essential mass gatherings to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the entire Brisbane season from 27 March to 4 April at Conservatorium Theatre, South Bank will no longer take place.
We are very disappointed Brisbane audiences will miss seeing this brilliant show at a time when joy and laughter is so needed, however we must do all that we can to stop the spread of COVID-19.
If you have questions about refunding/exchanging your ticket, please email QTIX or call Opera Queensland on 07 3735 3056.
As well as Lorelei, Opera Queensland will be cancelling the following programs:
- Sing Sing Sing, 4 April
- Youth Workshops, 6-7 April
- Adult Workshops, 20-21 April
In these complex times, we understand social isolation may be difficult for patrons who rely on the performing arts to support their mental health and wellbeing, and as a means of social enrichment. Rest assured we are supporting our artists and staff as we explore new and innovative ways to connect with our audiences. We look forward to sharing these with you in coming months.
When this has passed, we will be stronger as a company, we will also need your support to bounce back. If you are able, please consider donating the price of your ticket to Opera Queensland, or a local arts organisation of your choice, so we can all continue to deliver the performances and programs that play such an important part in the health and wellbeing of our communities.
For current ticket holders: you may choose to have your ticket refunded, credited towards another of our productions or turned into a donation. We will be in contact with you to discuss your preferred option. We thank you for your patience as we navigate this process.
This is an unprecedented experience for all of us, while it’s impossible to ascertain how quickly it will pass, we are closely monitoring all updates and advice from experts and authorities, including the Australian Government, Queensland Government and industry bodies and will keep you informed of our activities as promptly as possible.
If you have any questions we are here to listen: 07 3735 3030, Monday – Friday 9am-5pm or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We thank all our supporters and audiences for their understanding at this time.
Please follow Opera Queensland on social media for up-to-date information about these and other Opera Queensland productions and events.
