Opera Queensland is calling for singers and musicians to audition for its forthcoming presentation Tumbulgum and the Countdown to Midnight at the First Supper between Now and Forever that will be performed at Tumbulgum Hall on 16 and 17 December as part of Arts Northern Rivers’ If These Halls Could Talk project.

Auditions will take place on 1 October 2016 at the Murwillumbah Civic and Cultural Centre with call backs to be held at the same location the following day. Rehearsals for successful auditionees will be held primarily between 9 to 15 December, in the lead up to performances on 16 and 17 December, so participants would need to be available across that week.

Tumbulgum and the Countdown to Midnight at the First Supper between Now and Forever is a wondrous and heart-warming presentation by one of Australia’s major performing arts companies, Opera Queensland based on stories from the Tumbulgum Hall and the surrounding community.

For two nights only Tumbulgum Hall will be transformed into an other-worldly place and audiences will be taken on a musical journey into the next world and into forever by two of OperaQ’s creative directors Jason Barry-Smith and Rod Ainsworth.

For these auditions, OperaQ will be looking for men and women to fill key roles in the cast for this presentation.

Opera Queensland Creative Director Jason Barry-Smith said he was looking forward to unearthing some local talent.

“We are calling out to all interested people to come and audition, and we are looking for a range of singers and musicians to be a part of this wonderful event.

“Tumbulgum Hall has such an amazing history and we are excited to be joining forces to celebrate its place within the community.”

The production will be shown at Tumbulgum Hall on 16 and 17 December at 7.30pm and will conclude the If These Halls Could Talk project a region-wide season of contemporary arts events being held in seven community halls from the 17 September – 17 December 2016.

If These Halls Could Talk project is funded by Arts NSW Regional Partnership funding.
