Opera Queensland is pleased to announce that auditions for the 2016 Season of its primary school touring production of FiZZ! (based on Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love) will take place at the OperaQ Studio on Thursday 18 February from 3.00pm.
FiZZ! is the first creative collaboration between OperaQ’s Open Stage program and Shake & Stir Theatre Co, performing to 10, 950 students in 2015. This year the effervescent production will tour across Queensland from July to October.

This fresh and imaginative new primary schools touring production of Donizetti’s much loved opera will commence rehearsals in June/July, 2016 with performances in term 3 from 11 July – 16 September, school holidays from 19 – 30 September and the possibility of an extended season through term 4 from 4 – 28 October.
All candidates should prepare their own choice of a song in English, either classical or folksong, for the audition. A pianist will be available at the audition at no charge; however, you may bring your own if you wish. Backing tracks may also be used, either CD or USB, but please bring the sheet music with you as well for reference.
Please wear casual clothes appropriate for movement.
As no amplification is used in performances and shows may take place in a variety of undercover or indoor school spaces, halls and classrooms, applicants should have vocal and physical stamina to perform an average of two 50 minute shows per day, up to 5 days per week including set up and bump out of staging and props. A regular Class C drivers’ licence would be an advantage.
